ALBERTA HIGH PRAIRE
MULE DEER HUNT

If you've ever wanted to hunt in "Mule Deer Heaven," this is it! This unique hunt in this premium venue is conducted just outside Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, in a limited draw WMU that produces some of the most spectacular mule deer bucks in North America each year. The outfitter has four allocations allowing two hunters for the first hunt and two hunters for the second hunt. Hunts are for five days, Wednesday-Sunday during the first two weeks of November of each year only. Hunts are conducted by river boat. You will not see any other hunters on this remote, outback river hunt. The river offers the only water source for the wildlife and all the deer are drawn to the river twice daily to drink. By simply drifting or slowly motoring down stream while glassing, hunters will see 10-25 mature bucks daily. This hunt is 100% successful in opportunity and 99% successful in kill ratio. Historically, very hunter has taken or wounded a big buck. The average size buck taken on this hunt is 180 inches, with many 190 and 200+ bucks taken in the past.

Hunters arrive in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, check in to a local motel, obtain license/tag, get briefed and meet your outfitter/guide, then begin hunting on Wednesday morning. Guiding is 1 X 1 with two boats working approximately 60 miles of river. Accommodations during the hunt are typical outfitter tent on the riverbank with adequate accommodations for a short hunt. Meals are cooked in camp. There are no showers or baths available after Wednesday morning, however, most hunters tag out on the first or second day and the hunt is over!

Boating on the river in Alberta in November can be quite chilling, dependent upon weather conditions, so proper cold-weather gear with a wind-breaker exterior layer are essential.
